Introduction What is photohrammetry? Photogrammetry is utilized with mapping to help measure distances between objects and defining the location of a point in space. What types of distortion does remotely  sensed imagery have in its raw form? Distortion occurs in remotely sensed imagery due to the fact that a two-dimensional image is being taken of a three-dimensional object. Objects seen directly from above will have no depth, whereas objects far from the center of the lens will appear to ben outward slightly. This problem becomes more noticeable the further away from the center of the image the object is. What is orthorectification? What does it accomplish? Orthorectification is a process that attempts to remove the negative effects (distortion as mentioned above) of an image. ArcGIS Story Map

ArcGIS Story Map We created an ArcGIS story map to help document our research project and display our field work and goals in a user friendly interactive way. This story map will grow and change with us as we progress in our research, it will show how we will accomplish efficient search and rescue with unmanned aerial vehicles. The current story map gives an outline of how we will accomplish what our goals are, outlining our experiments and field work. When we have more experiments completed and more field work we can create maps and also interactive maps of where our field sites are located. Purdue GIS Day 2019

  Through the first semester of my UAS Capstone course, AT 409, the ultimate goal of our research was to be able to present a poster for Purdue's annual GIS Day Conference. On November 7, 2019 we did just that. This conference has been held annually for more than a decade, and serves as an opportunity for students, faculty, and members of industry to come together and learn from each other. The day started with a few lightning talks, 15 minute presentations from students and faculty presenting their current research. Topics ranged from GIS usage for UAS mission planning, to forest communities migrating due to climate change. These presentations were very insightful and put together incredibly well. The main event of the day was the keynote presentation, Seeing a Better World from Space by Dr. Carly Sakumura.
